Judas

A Multi-Verse Haiku by Dorothy Flint

When was yesterday?
Was it only yesterday
That I supped with him?

That he washed my feet?
We had been all together
In the upper room

But, tempted by greed,
I agreed to point him out
To the waiting guards

To show which was he
So that they could arrest him
And take him from us

Thirty silver coins
Thirty pieces of silver
That was all it took

To betray my Lord
But, after, filled with remorse,
Cast the purse from me

I, overcome by grief
I cannot live with this guilt
Better to end it

My name is Judas
Judas Escarriot
I'm the betrayer
